Governance Structure
Enveritas Certification, LLC is the entity that issues coffee certifications within the Enveritas group. This page describes how it's governed — how decisions are made, how impartiality is safeguarded, and where to find the policies that codify both. For the broader group structure, see the Organization page.
Statement of Impartiality
At Enveritas, we are fully committed to upholding the principles of impartiality, independence, and integrity in all aspects of our certification activities. Impartiality is essential to maintaining credibility and trust in the Enveritas Responsible Sourcing Certification Scheme.
Our commitments
To safeguard impartiality, Enveritas Certification LLC:
Operates certification processes independently of commercial or financial pressures
Maintains governance structures, including an Impartiality Committee, to mitigate risks
Ensures all personnel are free from conflicts of interest
Separates certification decisions from consulting or evaluation services
Reviews systems through internal audits, stakeholder feedback, and external assessments

Certification decisions
Decisions to grant, maintain, expand, reduce, suspend, or withdraw certification are made by personnel with delegated authority who are not involved in collecting the underlying audit data. This separation is mandated by ISO/IEC 17065. Governing procedures are available below under Policies and resources.
Enveritas Impact
Enveritas Impact LLC develops, designs, and operates impact projects and provides consultancy services aimed at improving sustainability outcomes for farming communities. It works with clients to build and deliver programmes that address social, environmental, and economic challenges across coffee and cocoa supply chains. Enveritas Impact LLC operates independently from Enveritas Certification LLC. Clear governance arrangements are in place across the group to ensure that all client relationships are managed with transparency and integrity.
Complaints & appeals
Any party may submit a complaint about a certification decision, a certified entity, or about Enveritas Certification's conduct. Complaints are reviewed by personnel independent of the original decision.
To submit, contact complaints@enveritas.org. We acknowledge within five business days and respond substantively within thirty. Appeals are reviewed by a different decision-maker than the one whose decision is being appealed.
Enveritas Certification
Enveritas Certification LLC is the independent certification arm of the Enveritas group, responsible for evaluating and certifying supply chains against the Enveritas Responsible Sourcing Scheme. It operates across Africa, Asia, and the Americas, entirely independently from all other parts of the organization. All certification decisions are based solely on objective evidence, free from commercial or external influence, in accordance with ISO/IEC 17065 — the international standard for bodies certifying products, processes and services.
